The Center for Cartoon Studies
Hey, have I mentioned my awesome school? Did you all know that I attend the Center for Cartoon Studies, located in beautiful White River Junction, VT? Well let me tell you a little bit about it :)
CCS is the PREMIER school to go to for studying comics. Founded by the critically acclaimed James Sturm, CCS consistently produces high-quality cartoonists ever year, many of whom go on to win awards such as the Xeric Grant. I can attest to the quality of their work because I see it everyday. Yes, the students are top-knotch, but so are the teachers!
In addition to Sturm, who made his mark with The Golem’s Mighty Swing, acclaimed cartoonists such as Jason Lutes (Berlin) and Steve Bissette (Tyrant) continue to teach here. And the list is growing! But not only are these professors excellent artists, they are also great teachers. Yes, I can truly say it is a joy to go to class every day.
So why am I writing this? Just to let you all know how I feel about where I’m at! This place rules, and frankly, I’ve found it to be the perfect creative outlet that I had been craving for so long.
What do I expect to get out of telling you? Honestly, I’d like to stir up interest in the school and get more young cartoonists interested in applying! Seriously, let’s get more awesome people to this awesome school!
SO, if you or anyone you know is interested in devoting one or two years to drawing and writing comics, please send them here:
